SEO or Search Engine Optimization is a process of optimizing a website in such a way that it tends to appear in top of organic search results so that one doesn't need to spend on search engine ads.
Though this is a self sufficient definition of SEO, yet some of non technical people might not understand it. So let's make it simpler by defining other terms related to SEO.

Search Engine is a software or a website that is used to search the database of data stored locally or a specified location. In case of Search Engine Optimization, Search Engines are the websites that we regularly use to get the latest information about a business, a term, statistics or almost anything. Some of the most popular search engines are Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc.
What are the Types of SEO?
SEO is broadly classified into 2 types based on the tasks and are of 3 kinds based on practices.
The 2 classified types of SEO based on tasks are:
- On-page SEO: On-page SEO consists of the tasks that are performed to optimize the website's internal things such as website structure, the content of the website, and more.
- Off-page SEO: Off-page SEO consists of the tasks that are performed to build backlinks and citations for the website. Basically, anything that is done to boost a website's online presence is a part of Off-page SEO.
The 3 kinds of of SEO based on practices are:
- White Hat SEO: The SEO techniques that are known to and are recommended by search engines are known as white hat SEO techniques.
- Black Hat SEO: The SEO techniques that are unknown to search engines or are used to manipulate search results are known as black hat SEO techniques.
- Grey Hat SEO: Grey Hat SEO is a technique that is a mixture of both white hat and black hat SEO.
